“But God raised Him up again,
putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be
held in its power.” (Acts 2.24)
"And if Christ has not been
raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen
asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men
most to be pitied. (1 Corinthians 15:17-19)
Our Lord is ALIVE and sitting at the right hand of the Father! He suffered and died in our stead. We deserved the wrath of the Father, but instead the Father's wrath was poured out on His innocent and perfect Son in our place. Because He lives, we can now take part in His inheritance. For those who trust in Him, we have life eternal.
What a joyous occasion Easter Sunday is, to be able to take time out to focus on what Christ has done for us. May we meditate on the Scriptures and what Christ accomplished for us. If you have children, young or old, read the passages that speak of the events surrounding the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Whether they are old enough to fully understand the story or not, it does not matter. Read it aloud and explain different parts of the story that, a younger child can understand. Sing songs of worship, and pray as a family, thanking the Lord for His salvation.
In our family we will be making Resurrection Cookies. You can see how to make these in a video tutorial I posted a couple of weeks ago. It is a great way to explain the story of the crucifixion and resurrection to small children. It is a yummy recipe too :)
I hope you have a Happy Easter. I pray that you and your family have a blessed and enjoyable day together focusing and meditating on Christ and what His death and resurrection mean for us.
